MANILA, Philippines — With Barangay Ginebra securing their place in the quarterfinals, head coach Tim Cone chose to limit the minutes of several key players as they prepare for the upcoming PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.
Stephen Holt made the most of his playing time, leading Ginebra to a 91-87 win over Meralco on Wednesday night.
“It’s always the next man up mentality with us, whoever’s on the floor, they’re just five guys connecting for our offense,” Holt shared.
“Now, we just have to continue this momentum in the playoffs,” he added.
Holt contributed 13 points and three rebounds in 21 minutes of play, while teammate RJ Abarrientos topped the scoring for the team with 17 points.
Finishing the elimination round with an 8-4 record, Holt and the Gin Kings now turn their attention to the quarterfinals, where they will face Meralco once again in a best-of-three series.
“I’m just trying to be efficient with my shots and trying to create. For me and all of us, it’s all about preparing for the playoffs and how we go about our business,” Holt explained.
“I’m super excited to regroup with the guys that we have and try to win that championship,” he concluded.
