MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Monday that it would streamline the submission of school forms and reports to lessen the administrative workload of public school teachers.
In a statement, DepEd confirmed that it would soon release a department order to implement the new guidelines.
“Teachers have long raised concerns about excessive paperwork, and this policy directly responds to that. Reducing their bureaucratic workload will not only improve their well-being but also enhance the quality of instruction they provide to our learners,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara stated.
Significant Reduction in Required Forms
DepEd highlighted that the new policy would result in a 57% decrease from the previous requirement of 174 school forms. Under the revised guidelines, teachers will be expected to complete only five forms on a regular basis.
Additionally, teachers may need to accomplish 31 forms related to ancillary tasks and 39 forms for teaching-related assignments. The specific forms required will depend on their designated roles under DepEd Order No. 005, s. 2024, which rationalizes teacher workloads.
DepEd’s move aims to improve teachers’ efficiency and allow them to focus more on classroom instruction rather than paperwork.
