As the School Year 2024-2025 concludes, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Monday that teachers will be given a “flexible and uninterrupted” 30-day vacation, free from any school-related tasks in the coming weeks.

According to DepEd’s updated guidelines, teachers will have the option to take their 30-day break between April 16 and June 1, 2025, either consecutively or in staggered intervals.

This update also includes teachers from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and those teaching Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) classes.

Meanwhile, students who are required to attend mandatory summer programs will have their vacation scheduled outside the period from May 13 to June 6.

The current School Year 2024-2025 spans from July 29, 2024, to April 15, 2025, while the next academic year is set to begin on June 16, 2025, and conclude on March 31, 2026.

During their 30-day break, teachers will not be required to participate in activities related to the Performance Management Evaluation System (PMES). They can also complete and submit their electronic Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (eIPCRF) by the end of the first month of the SY 2025-2026.

Teachers applying for promotion may also submit their required performance evaluations before the last day of classes.

DepEd emphasized that although professional development activities or summer training are voluntary, they will be scheduled outside of the teachers’ vacation time. Teachers who participate in such activities will earn additional vacation service credits, on top of their 30-day break.

Teachers may also visit their schools or take part in events like the May 2025 elections and sports activities during their break.

“This break is a well-deserved opportunity for our learners and teachers to relax after a long academic year. I hope they spend this time wisely, unwinding with their families and loved ones, and return to work energized for the new school year,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara stated.

However, school heads are not included in the vacation benefits, as they are tasked with managing the school during the break, according to DepEd.
