The former chief enforcer of ex-President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs said he would consider going into hiding if the Supreme Court rejects his petition challenging the government’s decision to turn over Duterte to the ICC.
“If I no longer see justice here in our country, why will I surrender?” Dela Rosa told reporters in a phone interview.
When asked if he would go into hiding to avoid arrest, he admitted that it was an option he was considering.
“That’s included in my courses of action. I’m considering that,” he said, adding that he might also seek refuge in his Senate office.
Contradicting His Earlier Statement
Dela Rosa’s remarks on Wednesday contradict his statement from March 12, when he openly declared:
“If there is a warrant, I’m ready. I’ll take care of the President. That is my purpose. I’ll submit myself if there is a warrant.”
